What's the secret to getting hired at
sears home delivery?
I worked for Sears for 14 years working my way up to assistant manager of a store. I decided to leave and contract delivery service to them. I delivered for them for 7 years before getting the call that they were giving me 60 days notice. They had decided to go to a format they call SLS "Sears Logistics Services" where it costs them about 3 times as much to provide the same service, I'll never understand the waste with big business. Anyway, I was told that they would subcontract me if I was interested. I didn't have alot of possiblilities at the time so I decided to talk to them. We agreed on a price per stop, a fee daily to get the merchandise from point a to point b, and they went so far as to guarantee me a number of stops per week. After 10 months of providing this service, they called me up and told me that starting the next day there was no longer any guarantee, that the price per stop was going from 69.71 to 40.00 and that there would no longer be 275.00 per day for the 100 mile transfer of goods. This all sums up to about a 75% reduction in cost to them..........they acknowledged that no one could make money doing this, that was why they were now going to split this area up between all three drivers at that location, so each could eat a little each week. Any lawyers interested in taking on unethical practices feel free to contact me....

What's the secret to getting hired at
sears home delivery?
I work for Sears Home Delivery through Liberty Transportation in Pittsburgh, PA. These people are horrible to work for. First of all, I am SUPPOSED to be an independent contractor. But, I have to be at work at a certain time, I have to work every other Sunday, and they appear to control when a driver works by not "having a load" for them on certain days. They make you wear uniforms and you have to pay for them. You have to pay your helper, the lease for the truck, your fuel, your tolls, etc etc. In that respect I am an IC, but in every other respect, I feel like an employee. And as far as pay goes...my helper sometimes makes more than I do. And for working 14 - 15 hour days, it isn't enough. I can't wait to find another job and get out of this place. If you take an appliance out of the box, and it is damaged, and the customer won't take it, they make you pay a 15 percent restocking fee! First of all, how do we not know that it was damaged before we ever put it on the truck? Second of all, 15 percent of what? Our delivery fee? The cost of the appliance? What a crock! Is Sears so hard up for money that they have to take it from the delivery drivers? This pay, I worked 6 14 hour days (not including the commute) and 4 8 hour days and made GROSS 1000.00 That's 8.62 an hour, I was making 13.05 an hour at my last job, and they told me I would make a whole lot more than that. Liberty Transportation and Sears are a bunch of LIARS!...
