Each team I worked with was awesome. State Farm encouraged team participation and I always participated in a large way. For the most part I was a team leader in the majority of teams I worked with because I was willing to speak up for the team and in the team meetings.

Muzak was played on the speakers at State Farm; however, we were given the opportunity to listen to personal CD's on headphones. As long as we could answer the phone in a timely manner, we could listen to whatever music we choose.

One of the things I would like to change at State Farm is how the company relocates jobs to states which are too far away to contemplate relocation. My particular job was relocated to Florida and I was unable to relocate due to family issues.

I worked in a cubicle with rather short walls. While I was on the phone, I could hear other employees on their phones but was able to block out the noise in order to service the customer on the phone. When I was not on the phone, I was able to help monitor less experienced members of my team and either help them with a phone call or teach them how a phone call could have been handled more efficiently after the phone call was over....

There were many opportunities to eat a hot lunch in the cafeteria, or employees could bring lunch from home. A Toastmasters group met once a week and employees were encouraged to join and participate in the group. A longer lunch was even allowed to participate as State Farm realized the advanced skills employees learned at the meetings....

Over almost twenty years, the dress code changed several times at State Farm. Currently business casual is the dress code. Nice slacks or skirts with a professional top and pumps were the cothing of choice for the majority of employees.
