How did you find your job at wachovia securities?

I had posted my resume on several web-sites and was contacted by their internal staffing company for a temporary position of 6 months. At the end of my 6 months, I was asked if I would be interested in joining the firm full-time and I eagerly accepted.

What are the most challenging aspects of your job at wachovia securities?

Becoming the Medallion Stamp Coordinator for 500+ branches within Wachovia Securities. Knowing nothing about a Medallion Stamp, its use, and its liabilities to the Corporation meant that I had to learn the Stamp's importance in a short period of time. In addition, the information we had been provided was not up-to-date, so I spent months putting together a spreadsheet of stamp numbers and authorized users, along with location files. In addition, I built communication with the branches, established a website for stamp users, and updated forms to make them user-friendly. What's the secret to getting hired at wachovia securities?

There is no secret here as I actually joined the firm as a temporary hire when Wachovia and Prudential merged and there were a lot of unknowns about how the organization would be built. The temporary position was very slow paced as most of the PCG staff were in the field, but during this slow period I looked for things to do in the office area cleaning up files, straightening out stationery, and answering a multi-line phone system. What are the most challenging aspects of your job at wachovia securities?

One of the most challenging aspects of this position was daily evaluating death certificates as part of the verification process. I felt I needed to maintain a balance between remaining sensitive without becoming morbid.

How would you describe what you did at wachovia securities?

Being part of the Estate Processing area involved being responsible for more than one thing at the same time since I could be working on several beneficiaries' requests simultaneously. This meant paying close attention to detail, especially since the position involved authorizing monetary disbursements. I was also sensitive to the needs of bereaved clients as I requested information from them.... read more

* Assumption of Product Manager duties and responsibilities for FA Directed Platform, encompassing 3 distinct Programs with over $18.5 billion AUM, 800 FA participants, and 50,000 Client accounts.
* Administer all facets of FA Directed Wrap-fee Programs, to include marketing, compliance,
technology and research functions. Daily interaction with high producing FA's in support of existing book-of-business and new Client sourcing. Serve as primary gate keeper for entry into Programs.

* Source new vendors relating to a variety of business processes (e.g. trading platform, research sources, technology initiatives, etc.). Manage existing vendor relationships, to include SLA (Service Level Agreement) initiation, financial negotiations, and general relationship management functions.
* Responsible for initiating and continuation of due diligence functions covering a variety of alternative investments, including hedge fund of funds, Managed Futures Funds, Direct Investments, Exchange Funds, Structured Products, and Private Equity Funds.
* Serve as co-consultant for over 40 institutional clients. Combined institutional client assets in excess of $2.1 billion. Clients include, but not limited to: Corporations, Municipalities, Foundations/Endowments, Labor Unions, Educational Organizations, and Religious Organizations.
* Perform customized asset allocation studies for institutional investors and high net worth individuals. Develop advanced strategies created uniquely for each prospect/client. Incorporate Monte Carlo simulations and cash flow analysis.
