I worked at Simple Gifts farm before and during my high school years as a working student. Over the course of 5 years I learned the ins and outs of equine barn management as well as many aspects of equine health care. I was responsible for daily horse care, grooming, feeding, and maintance of the barn. I also prepared horses for their riding lessons. I also implemented routine health care practices when needed (wound care, administering medications, etc.)
During my undergraduate years I continued these responsibilities at the Higgins family farm, caring for 5 - 10 horses including 1 of my own.
