Mathew, What are the three best things about working at Exbiblio?

1 - Exbiblio truly believes in treating people well. They treat their employees exceptionally, and they treat the other people they do business with exceptionally. This also means that the people I work with are wonderful people to spend time with. Its part of the culture.
2 - Exbiblio believes in treating the environment well. We have already helped fund projects to save snow leopards in Pakistan, and forests in Mexico. I get to be an engineer knowing that my success directly translates into huge environmental impact. Its a very rare and exciting mix.
3 - We are building something truly revolutionary. This product might change the lives of millions or even billions of people one day. It's very exciting to work on something with such huge potential.

I'm constantly doing things I've never done before. Sometimes my brain gets tired since every day i'm learning new things. Of course, although this is challenging, it's also one of the best parts of my job.

I'm responsible for getting our scanner to work. The HW design was pretty much completed when i came on board, but the firmware for the device falls under my domain. We are porting linux to our custom ARM11 board. It's really hard sometimes, but its also really fun.

Reading? More than that... We're writing blogs, all the time! There is a very large and disclosed blog about the company on the website, and we have personal internal blogs where we can discuss wheat we are working on, problems we have come across, solutions we have created, etc.

Demi, How did you find your job at Exbiblio?

Exbiblio was brought to my attention by my friend Mathew Chasan, who I now work with (yet again!). He had submitted his resume and mentioned that they had a position that I might be well suited for. Once I talked to him more about Exbiblio, and I visited their website, I knew that I had to pursue employment there.

I interviewed with about six or seven people. Most of the interviews were personal in nature, a couple were technical. Most were one-on-one, and I always felt respected, never threatened by the process.

The three best things are:
1. Developing a hugely exciting product with a talented and motivated group of people.
2. An exceptional work environment.
3. Working for a socially and environmentally conscious company.
