Gerhard, How would you describe what you did at Shaksfin Entertainment?

I joined forces with an experienced business partner and a group of private investors and founded "Shaksfin Entertainment Pte Ltd", a company designed to create and produce live entertainment and dinner theatre formats. Shaksfin created and produced its first show "The-Crystal-Mirror???" [www.the-crystal-mirror.com] with its world premiere in Singapore in March 2007. This multi-million dollar show combining gourmet cuisine with world-class art performance from around the globe and the ambience of a historic "Mirror Tent" was an overwhelming media success. As the show's inventor and executive producer I spear headed literally all aspects of production, including technical set up, global logistics, artist, top-notch F&B for daily 400 guests, procurement, controlling, an extensive marketing campaign, sponsorship acquisition, webpage design and the brand's establishment.

Gerhard, What was the last really difficult interview question you were asked? How did you respond?

The question: Where do you see yourself in 5 years, 10 years
This question was difficult as life has taught me that it is dynamic and that no matter how much you plan it, it never develops as you anticipated. Not worse, but always different.
My answer: Happy, always keeping head above water.

Gerhard, What path did you take to your current career?

All in all, I have worked in and studied the international hospitality and event industry, for more than a decade, and have experienced these exciting fields of business from many an angle.

In 2002/03 I gathered priceless experience managing projects for an Event Agency named Inspiria [www.inspiria.net] providing corporate event services and other MICE related services. Fast, straight forward thinking under high pressure was needed to create experiences beyond our clients' expectations.

In June 2003 I graduated with Masters in Arts (M.A.) of Business from an international University for Tourism and Leisure Management in Austria, combined with studies in the US. My studies are complementing my practical experience well and have always helped me to see the "big picture".

in 2003 I joined Moerwald [www.moerwald.at], a large fine-dining restaurant & boutique hotel group in Vienna (Austria). My first task as the Group's Operations & Project Manager was to head the gastro-entertainment division, coordinating Food&Beverage for "Palazzo" [website], a famous European dinner show production. During the production period of three month I managed a total of 60 F&B professionals, catered to close to twenty five thousand customers and together with my team produced record occupancies followed by record profits. Thereafter, leading 200 team members, I spearheaded multiple fine-dining outlets, concept restaurant operations, as well as 2 boutique hotel operations, the catering and special events arm of the company and co-opened several new operations. This job kick-started my career in the field of hospitality executive management.

In 2004/5, I seized an opportunity to move to Asia, and joined Esmirada Group [www.esmirada.com] in Singapore, where I managed the group's fast growing restaurant operations. I restructure the company's operations, marketing and branding strategy from top to bottom, creating and establishing the ???Esmirada Group of Restaurants" consisting of six formally individually managed restaurant operations. Achieving my target, and growing the company's sales and profits by [20 ] % and [15 ] %, respectively within less than 18 months, I decided to move on.

Soon I joined forces with an experienced business partner and a group of private investors and founded "Shaksfin Entertainment Pte Ltd", a company designed to create and produce live entertainment and dinner shows. Shaksfin created and produced its first show "The-Crystal-Mirror???" [www.the-crystal-mirror.com] with its world premiere in Singapore in March of 2007. This multi-million dollar show combining gourmet cuisine, world-class artistical performance from around the globe and the ambience of a historic "Mirror Tent" was an overwhelming media success. As the shows inventor and executive producer I head a production team of 100 team members and am deeply involved in literally all aspects of production. I enjoyed the extremely demanding experience of producing a dinner show from scratch.
