      <description>Consulting is a very tough but very satisfying career choice. The most important rule is that you are there to help the client. You must understand the client's problems in relation to the industry that the client operates in. This can be very fun for those who seek to constantly expand their knowledge. With big corporations, the task is relatively simple - management has a direction, a goal, and the infrastructure to implement changes. Also, you will have the benefit of having access to a lot of data. With early to mid-size companies (especially private ones) the task requires a more creative touch in order to overcome obstacles. Data may be scarce or  there may not be enough. An entrepreneurial mindset is useful. 
Again, it is important to stress that the client comes first. Study the data. Seek to understand management's wants and needs. Address clients from their mindset and culture. At the same time, do not be afraid to tell management something that they may not want to hear - your goal is to help the client. Sometimes, to overcome an obstacle, harsh facts must be faced. Make sure that your efforts produce results for the client. You are there, not only to advise, but to guide the client (step by step, if necessary) to success.
I would also highly recommend taking part in non-profit work every now and then. It can be a very satisfying side-project.</description>
