Joseph, What are the three best things about working at Plumtree Software?

Since Plumtree was acquired by BEA in the last couple years I'll talk about what it was like then. Plumtree was a heady startup and the first to the corporate portal market. I was one of five field deployment engineers and we handled many of the first corporate portal installations all over the country. It was a fast paced and interesting as well. We received a lot of exposure to multiplie systems, configurations and requirements. You were constantly learning and by then end of my term there I had written integrations with over 50 custom, commercial and open source solutions to integrate with Plumtree's portal software. Along with the travel, it was a blast for some one just out of school!

Joseph, What's the secret to getting hired at BEA?

BEA wants highly motivated self-starters. College degrees are a must. Other than that they are fairly open minded. If your a sharp Java guy but have never touched WebLogic you may still get hired if you can demonstrate your skill. Portfolios are a must.

Joseph, What's your workspace like at BEA?

I work about 60% of the time out of my home office which is basically a couple tables with multiple laptops setup to simulate various production environments. The rest of the time I am on the road doing demos or proof of concepts for clients. It's very relaxing to work from home and I seem to get allot more done though from time to time I will take off to a local coffee shop for a change in scenery.
