PRAKASH, How would you describe what you did at Tata Technologies Ltd?

I got to learn about the conservative mindset of automotive companies and their concern about too many changes taking places too fast and how to manage them. I learnt about CMMI Level 5 processes , ISO 27000 ISMS standards and project management and reporting.

I did the standard work for which I was hired - namely competency development in embedded systems and technology evaluation by designing "Proof Of concept" products but I was rewarded by many challenging assignments outside of my sphere- whether preparation of Capital Expenditure Budgets or procurement of hardware and software for large teams or setting up infrastructure including place, furniture, wiring, networking and servers etc.

I contributed to company's HR recruitment and placement process within company by interviewing about 200+ persons and recruiting 70+ in this period.

I suggested many "out of the box" improvements to process - some were implemented some were dropped as too radical.

PRAKASH, What's your ideal work environment?

A small or medium sized workplace with a close-knit team- an informal set up, deep respect and trust in each other's capabilities and intentions, where people are fired with passion and go out of their way to make the common effort successful. Something which is not encumbered with archaic corporate processes which delay and bar the progress. The environment must recognize and reward extra-ordinary competencies and nuture and exploit them.

Something which stresses and stimulates my mind intellectually. Something which will allow me to build products which will bring difference in the lives of common people. the products which could reduce losses, increase effciency, stop wastage and conserve energy and water resources.

The kind of job which allows me to pass on my knowledge to others so that they become better engineers and designers than me.
