One of the biggest construction site in Europe in the 1990's. Potsdamer Platz, Berlin. We installed our office right next to the construction site and had to setup telecommunication and the interconnection between architects MACs an our PCs. I took part at debis B8 building by the architect Richard Rogers Partnership.

The best thing about working in the German building industry was to took part at some of the biggest buildings in Germany.

It was a great opportunity to work with some of the best architects of the world e.g. Laurie Abbott of Richard Rogers Partnership, London.

Except of mathematics, physics, computer sciences, chemistry I studied mechanical technologies, materials and engineering.

Before I designed mechanical parts and machines I was trained at several machines and technologies e.g. chipping technologies like drilling, cutting, milling, lathing, screw-cutting, chipless forming like welding or soldering.

With a 4 years study and a exam and certification from the IHK (german bord of trade) this degree is somehow similar/comparable to the US Bachelor of Sciences for mechanical engineering.

All business trips have been great! I love to meet people especially within their work environment. I assume my 6 weeks stay at Richard Rogers Partnership Architects in London was the best. And I could see the London Greenwich Millennium Dome construction site. ;)

During my time as the Product Manager at TOPOS I had a great week at the Milia exhibition in Cannes/France (They also have the Cannes Film Festivals there).

You see people speaking about projects while sitting at the beach right at the exhibition grounds.

I used to work as a paperboy, as a warehouseman for the British HQ at my home town and as a assistance in a paper and carton factory in my summer vacations. ;)

The first thing I did to earn money as I really needed it for my family was to work as a metal worker installing huge garage doors.
