Dan, What advice do you have for someone who wants a job like yours?

Marketing positions are not easy to come by, especially entry-level. Make sure that you go to a college that offers co-ops or internships that can translate to employment after college. The last several positions I've had involved a broad set of responsibilities. Getting experience in a number of different areas is very helpful. You can learn a lot from a job you love and possibly even more from one you hate.

Dan, What was your first job?

My first job was at a butcher shop when I was 13 years old. I also delivered newspapers for 3 different companies, handed out circulars door to door, washed dishes at multiple restaurants, cooked at others, and worked at a library. My first position out of college was selling advertising on the phone -- it was horrible, but I learned a lot about myself and relationships with people. My first 'real' job was at Unisys, and I stayed there for nearly 6 years.

Small business owner. It takes a lot to assume every position within a company. Even the greatest CEO has a supporting cast. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears goes into running a small business.

Preferred client industries to market to include Higher Education, Consumer Goods, Finance, and Telecommunications, while others are also considered.
