BreEllen, What advice would you give to a new employee at University of Washington Medical Center?

As an RN, I would say to sit down and look at what you want. Yes- you. There are so many departments at UWMC, and even if the job you want isn't currently posted (or says it isn't hiring new grads) there is most likely a place for you in each of them.

Evaluate the departments in detail. Visit the departments. Talk to the Nurse Managers, who would be delighted to talk to a new prospect. Be picky.

You are a factor in your job. I know that nurses are caretakers by nature, but you will be more effective in your practice if you find placement in a field that is truly the right fit for your personality.

BreEllen, What's the interview process like at Jobster?

Mine was 3 1/2 hours long with 4 separate interviewers. The only room available (space is running short here) had 1.5 ft tall squishy chairs, an X-Box with a movie screen, and a dry erase board. The interviewers were on very tight schedules; specific, directed, pleasant.

BreEllen, What have your past employers loved about you?

One of the qualities I get the most positive feedback about is that I take the pulse of the company, department, and clients that I am working with. I learn the tools that I have at hand and figure out how to maximize results- for clients and co-workers. Past employers have always commented on my ability to be self directed and pro-active in problem solving and producing results with this methodology.

After a long day at work I typically run 4 to 5 miles. I've enjoyed a boxing class that's been offered at the gym across the street from Jobster (Rain Fitness). I also write and perform music locally.

BreEllen, What was your first job?

Hmmm- my first jobs entailed baby sitting, being an elf at Christmas or a clown for summer parades, and doing inventory at my mom's small local business. Perhaps my first official job was when I was 14. My parent's friends hired me at their Real Estate office to help them use their ever elusive computer programs.

Where do I start? I've started vlogging. In my free time I compose music- for the next release I figured I'd do as much documentation as possible.
