Besides school work, the only time I worked at the university was when I worked in the Academic Advisement Office. The three best things about working there were definitely the people, getting to meet other students coming in, and a pretty flexible schedule.

Cerner has a cafeteria on the main campus; however, I usually try to get some leg-stretching time by hitting a local restaurant or going home for lunch (it's only approximately 10 mintues away).

Jerod, What do people wear to work at cerner?

Business Casual most of the time (nice pants and a collared shirt). There are the occasional jean Fridays and of course if you're going to be client-facing, you should wear Business Professional.

I learned more than I ever though I'd know about the gasoline, diesel, oil, and propane business. I would feel confident going to somebody's house and installing a propane system or a farm fuel system. I also learned how to deal with financial systems and run a direct marketing campaign.

I deeply miss the people at Zollicker's and miss having the oppotunity to get outside to work. Even if you were in the office that day, you could usually open the doors and let a gentle breeze blow through.
