None. Although ChemPoint has all of the free coffee and Frappuccino anyone could dream for, I don't like the way coffee tastes or makes me feel. I drink about one cup of green tea per day at work.

Relaxing. There's no parking at the job since it's in a metropolitan area in a high-rise building, so I take the bus using the pass ChemPoint gave me for free. (Perk!) I don't have to deal with morning traffic, I can do homework on the bus, I don't have to blow money on gas, AND I can feel like I'm being a responsible environmental steward.

The Redmond Larry's Markets was brand new, and my brother's girlfriend's mom worked in the Essentials department at another location. She referred me to the Essentials manager at Redmond, where I was promptly hired following my interview! (Hooray for networking!)

Back in high school, my band director offered free tickets to his students for Washington Wind Symphony concerts, a group he played in for fun. I went to every concert I could and really enjoyed the music. Soon after I graduated from high school, my band director invited me to play in the group because they were short a clarinet. I jumped at the opportunity and have been playing with them ever since!

Since the financial world can change on a dime at any given time, we're always expected to keep ourselves updated on the latest banking news, trends, and regulations.
It really depends on which classroom I'm in, and I have three of them to be in every week. I can usually see:

1) Large whiteboard.
2) A professor.
3) High-tech podium.
4) A serene natural habitat that surrounds the campus.
5) The Burke-Gilman Trail.

1) The parking pass for the entire quarter is only $36 and there is PLENTY of parking. (Scratch that. Parking went up to $63 this quarter. I was getting spoiled with the old prices. :P ) Likewise, you get a killer deal on a bus pass.
2) Class sizes are never larger than 45 students and the professors are the only ones to teach your class, not a student teacher.
3) There are mounted electronic projectors, automated projector screens, all-inclusive media podiums, and--I swear--five different lighting configurations in every classroom. EVERY CLASSROOM. It makes giving presentations kinda fun. Well... at least a little less stressful. :)
4) Student lounge in the basement of the UW1 building. Not many students know about it, but there is a TV, microwave, air hockey table, billiard table, foosball table, and vending machines. Oh yeah, and all of the gaming tables are free and all-you-can-play. :D
5) Being a student of UW you have unlimited access to the library's resources on campus. UWB subscribes to some really expensive databases so this is an invaluable tool for your research. All alumni are allowed to use the library's resources beyond graduation as well. (Psst: this makes you a very valuable resource to potential employers. You now have access to databases that many businesses don't!) You're not limited to the Bothell campus's library; you also have access to the Seattle and Tacoma campuses, too!

My marketing team was filming our commercial for Jobby (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dgPNu9wFDU). In the middle of filming we pondered, "Wouldn't it be funny if we did some cheesy 'GOOOO JOBBY'?" While most of us thought it was a hypothetical question, one of our group members thought it was an excellent idea. We thought she was rediculous but humored her anyways. We filmed the funny bit and ended up loving it so much that we added it to the end of our commercial. I still crack up every time I watch it.

"Projects" at the BLC were usually organizing business-related events that helped students meet local business professionals, learn more about various business opportunities, and taking their business education to the next level. I helped in organizing, promoting, and introducing tours of local business facilities as well as business leaders' presentations on campus. Some of our speakers included Ed Harris (CFO of Vulcan, Inc.), Sharon Linton (Communications Director of Bellevue's Meydenbauer Center), and Bob Donegan (CEO of Ivar's). Our most popular events were a tour of Costco's headquarters as well as a Costco corporate speaker panel, BCC Business Alumni Night where current students could get tips from successful business grads, and an Industry Panel.
Big Spoon Day

Okay, I have to explain this one.

Every morning before school or work, for as long as I can remember, I've eaten a bowl of cereal. I have a choice between two sizes of spoons: small and large. I prefer the small spoon because it encourages smaller bites so I can enjoy my cereal longer and maximize its utility. Unfortunately, though, some mornings I would be forced to choose the big spoon so that I could finish my cereal quicker to get other work done sooner. The big spoon in a symbol of how hectic my life can be at times, and the small spoon reminds me that there is more to life than just rushing to get work done all of the time.

But I heard somewhere that there is no spoon, so I guess this might all be for nothing. (Har har har.)

I'd want Scarlett Johansson to play me because she can be quirky and nerdy in such a great way. (Go see "Scoop" if you haven't yet.)

Being a full-time student at the University of Washington Bothell is my current career. (Albeit temporary!) How did I get there? My parents drilled it into me since I was six years old that I was going to get at least a bachelors degree out of life. Besides summer break, I've never taken a quarter off from school. Ever. I attended community college right out of high school and took every class I've ever wanted to take, whether it related to my major or not. (Yes, I strongly feel that two quarters of Japanese, five quarters of Jazz Band, the complete inorganic chemistry series, and one quarter of Hip-Hop Dance Choreography enriched my life.) Did that for four years to get it out of my system. I volunteered in a lot of clubs and organizations at school and in the community. Finally, when it was time to move on to UW, I was ready. It was a long time in the making but definitely worth it.

(I don't know if this was the toughest problem per se, but it definitely was one of the more stressful ones I've had on the job.) I was working in the bakery of Larry's Markets alone one evening. I performed all duties except baking and decorating cakes. A father came to pick up his daughter's birthday cake when he was distressed to see that the decorator used the wrong cake theme. I offered a discount on the cake but he refused anything except a cake with the original theme he selected. After checking to see if we even had the cake decoration he was looking for and discovering it wasn't in stock, I called another Larry's Markets, picked it up that evening, returned to my store, and with a lack of cake-decorating knowledge quickly learned how to remedy a mis-themed cake. (This is much more challenging than it sounds!) Thankfully, the gentleman returned that evening and was pleased with his new cake.
