Steven, What was your most memorable summer job?

DisneyQuest - Animation Academy Artist.

I remember the summer after I graduated from high school, my managers fired a lot of the artists. After everything, there were only 3 of us left - including myself! As a result, I wound up working between 60 and 70 hours every week teaching 30-minute classes all day long to the guests. It was so much fun, but I lost my voice as a result!

Steven, What path did you take to your current career?

I started drawing in elementary school and kept at it. In high school, I decided to take some portfolio classes to help me get into a great art school, such as Ringling. At Ringling, I studied Computer Animation. I also worked at Disney durring this time, where I taught drawing classes at DisneyQuest. After graduating Ringling, I returned to Disney, where I began training artists at the Disney-MGM Studios. 7 months after graduation, I got a call from an animation studio in Washington, which I accepted. I worked there for a year, working on a total of four projects, before I decided to leave. This brings me to the present.

I have no idea where I'll go next, but I'm very excited to find out!

Steven, Who was your most influential mentor and what did they teach you?

I can't name just one. I've looked up to many people, each for very different reasons. Ed Gavin, my 3D instructor at Ringling, taught me everything I know about 3D animation and I owe most of my animation skills to him. Corbie Dozier at Disney taught me how important linework was and helped me improve my drawing abilities immensely. My high school art teacher, Kristina Brushaber taught me most of what I know about art. There are countless others as well, but obviously, I can't name them all here!
