Brett, What path did you take to your current career?

I started our as an idealistic Art Student. I wanted to WOW the world with my photographs, designs and sculptural masterpieces. I soon started to realize that I had to actually make a living so I set out to adapt my knowledge of Art and Design and the discipline thereof toward Web Design and Development. Having always been completely enthralled with Technology, the Internet presented itself as a limitless frontier, a never ending canvas, so to speak.

I found myself taking a job as a Web Developer when I barely knew how to code HTML, let alone CSS. I managed to get up to speed in no time and became quite adept at this trade.

It's been almost 10 years now and I continue to learn, live and love every minute and every challenge put before me.

Brett, What advice do you have for someone who wants a job like yours?

Study hard. Learn your fundamentals and get to know your technology. Brush up on your people skills and learn how to translate your concepts and ideas in layman's terms because clients don't speak Technobabble. Most importantly, do what you do because you love it and for the sake of doing it above all else.

Brett, Who was your most influential mentor and what did they teach you?

I was most influenced by my former college Art Photography professor, Matt Kidder. Matt was a dynamic artist and inspirational teacher - one who saw things from multiple perspectives. He showed me how to look at the problem an idea presents from all angles in order to find a successful solution which, ultimately, resulted in successful art and design work.
