M, What was your first job?

I worked my very first job at age 17, where I was a team member at a fast food restaurant. I did things like pack orders, maintain a cash register and provide good customer service (back when good customer service was actually the norm). I even burned my hand a few times trying to cook some of the products there! It was quite a learning experience to say the least - it made me realize that this was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. :p

M, Who was your most influential mentor and what did they teach you?

My most influential mentor was my supervisor at a consulting firm I worked for about 4 years ago. She was the senior principal/business manager there, which was the position just under the CEO of the firm. She taught me a great deal about how to be a confident, successful, influential female in the business world, and used to give great advice not only about work related topics, but real-life issues as well. She was an intelligent, strong and very wise woman, and even when she was treating me like a regular subordinate, I always gave her much respect. She's one of the few people in my life who helped me become the woman that I am today.
