Kevin, What's the toughest problem you've had to solve at Equity Group Financial?

The toughest thing I had to deal with was where to constantly find new customers. I always asked my current customers for referrals but decided if I could establish a referral network it would greatly benefit me. Therefore, I established relationships with a realtor, contractor, and attended a home building show to find people such as roofers, home improvement, etc.

Kevin, How would you describe what you did at Encore Credit?

At Encore I dealt on a business to business level, representing a subprime wholesale lender to mortgage brokers in southern Michigan and NW Ohio. When I came to Encore they had very little existing business in the area. I helped to build it into a highly productive territory. My day to day activities consisted of visiting new and existing brokers in the field. I would educate them on my programs and make sure to keep them informed of anything new or different. I would examine prospective deals out in the field or in my home office to see if they would qualify and help to facilitate them throughout the process by communicating with the broker, their support staff, my processor, underwriter, operations manager, appraisal review, and closing department.

Kevin, What's the secret to getting hired at Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK)?

GSK has a pretty lengthy interview process. I went through a total of 5 interviews from start to finish. I think one important thing, and you could say this about any interview, is to have confidence in yourself and your abilities. Another thing that my manager told me afterwards that impressed her was that I didn't come in expecting a large salary. I have worked on 100% commission in the past and I explained to her that I was comfortable with a lower salary as long as there was an opportunity to make it up through my hard work with bonuses or commission. Fairly or unfairly, pharma gets a wrap sometimes as a profession where reps don't work all that hard and just rely on a comfortable salary. You can set yourself apart as someone that is willing to hustle. Finally, this type of interview typically requires a "brag book" to document accomplishments. Be able to talk intelligently and with passion about what you have accomplished thus far.

Kevin, How would your co-workers describe you?

I think my co-workers would describe me as someone who is very outgoing, competitive, and driven. I'm a team player who will go out of my way for others and I ask a lot of questions because I feel both knowledge and communication are very important.

Kevin, What kind of job are you looking for?

I am looking for a job that will challenge me and allow me to utilize my sales capabilities and people skills. I am looking for a company that I can grow with and help to take to the next level. I am open to different industries but definitely prefer something sales and people oriented.
