If you won $50 million dollars tomorrow, what would you do first?

It's probably not the most politically correct answer, but if I had that kind of money tomorrow, I know that I would go right out and buy major gifts for my friends and family. I've always had these fantasies about what I would buy each of the people close to me if I had unlimited funds: a sound studio for one person, a ski cabin for another, a trip around the world for someone else. What kind of job are you looking for?

I'm looking for a job where I can really use my talents, learn a lot, and have some fun. I think writing will definitely be involved somehow, because it's always been so central to my success and satisfaction, but at the end of the day it's those three criteria that mean the most to me.

What are your hobbies?

Anything that has to do with words in some way is generally pretty fascinating to me: reading, writing, doing word puzzles, flipping raptly through my giant dictionary... I love it all. From the moment I started learning to read, words have been like rare gems to me -- I want to collect every one I can find and make them all my own.... read more

What was your most memorable summer job?

The summer that I worked for UPS and loaded the delivery trucks in the wee hours of the morning will probably stick with me forever. It was a very atypical job for me -- I'd always worked in quiet, tidy office environments -- but I learned so much about my strengths and weaknesses as an individual while sweating away and struggling to load those trucks. It was humbling but immensely valuable to NOT be good at something right away and to have to work really hard at it.... read more
