What's your ideal work environment?

I most enjoy working as part of a small team, whether on site or remotely. It's great to bounce ideas off each other until we come up with the best solution. However, this is not a crucial factor for me.

How would you describe what you did at Ellipsys Consulting?

Planned and implemented all stages of installation, configuration, and data migration of the IP.21 Process Data Historian Product Suite used in manufacturing and process industries. Configured CIM-IO interfaces, and wrote SQLPlus queries and applications to periodically collect and historize LIMS data from Oracle tables.

Designed and developed intranet-based Shift Turnover Report application that was very well received by client. Quickly taught myself ASP, VBScript, and HTML and designed a maintainable and user-friendly application enabling Shift Supervisors to enter, save, and review shift data and notes for plant operating units.

Led a project team to develop and implement a multi-tab VB application for displaying, updating, and controlling Plastics Lot/Batch Details. Designed Oracle database table schema, GUI, and logic to control two databases.

Wrote multiple configurable VBA report tools to collect and format data and produce customized Excel reports.

Trained clients on-site on InfoPlus.21 Suite and Beginning/Advanced SQLPlus. Developed all course manuals and exercises and delivered multi-day classroom training sessions.

Led Systems Engineering phase of project to integrate existing UNIX-based mission food management system with SAP finance module of Defense Logistics Agency's financial system. 5 person team.

Helped prepare Acquisition Strategy for $100MM+ federal program, working closely with client for
requirements.

Supported trade study of COTS products for Common Food Management System (CFMS), including the development of requirements-derived marketing questionnaires, quantitative modeling, product review and assessment, and personal panel review soliciting input from representatives of all military branches.

What's the secret to getting hired at Orobin?

The most important traits for this position are intellectual flexibility, willingness to learn constantly, and ability to translate business needs to technical outcomes. It's not crucial to be an ace programmer, but rather to have solid skills and aptitudes to improve business processes. After a period of time I can become a "guru" at any language, tool or system, but my major selling point is always bridging the gap from the business to the technical worlds.... read more

This is a part-time ad-hoc commitment, and very much appreciated. Perform systems engineering and design for clients resulting in installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of InfoPlus.21 real time database and other Aspentech products. Write and fulfill design and testing protocols. Build auxiliary databases as needed, write / program reporting tools in Excel, ASP and generally respond to whatever is needed.... read more

How would you describe what you did at Vanderbilt University?

Completed degree in electrical engineering with nearly full credits for triple-major in computer science and math. Concentrated on digital track including VLSI design. Completed the greatest number of classical guitar credits for a non-music major! Enjoyed the entire experience thoroughly.
