For four years, I worked part-time for my father's small but successful company, Next Step Communications, Inc., a full-service marketing firm for companies in the plastics industry. I learned the ins and outs of marketing and public relations and assisted with most projects handled by the company, including newsletters, presentations, feature stories, press releases, and direct mail campaigns. I studied Arabic intensively for 9 months on a Fulbright grant to Amman, Jordan.
