What was your first job?

My first summer job was roofing houses for a local contractor in my home town. It was one of the hottest summers I can ever remember. It was a deciding factor in making me go to college, and then later wanting to start my own business in the construction industry.

How would you describe your time at Aesbus Knowledge Solutions?

I started my career with Aesbus after graduating from Texas State University in December of 1994. I was the seventh full time employee and was given many opportunities to expand my professional skills over my seven years of employment. I began working for Aesbus as a documentation specialist, converting word documents for a searchable database and was promoted to project manager after six months. As the work load for my project increased I quickly began to hire more employees to an existing team that I lead, trained and delegated responsibilities to. I was promoted to staff manager and lead a team of 10-15 full time and contract staff for the remainder of my time at Aesbus with projects that included data conversion, web maintenance and database management. My time as the manager of the online documentation department grew into a corporate recruiting role for all of Aesbus in addition to my specific management responsibilities. With my ability to interview, hire and retain staff with very little or no turn-over I was asked to take on the hiring responsibilities for the company as a whole. I managed a full cycle recruiting process including sourcing candidates, scheduling interviews, background checks, interviews, reference checks and making offers of employment to successful candidates. As the corporate recruiter I hired for positions including program managers, project coordinators, data analysts, HTML/XML programmers, database specialists, illustrators, animators, multimedia producers, graphic designers, interface designers, technical writers/editors, template specialists and desktop publishers. The knowledge that I obtained from working with all aspects of Aesbus' technical departments helped me to include sales responsibilities to my tenure. In my last two years at Aesbus I was responsible for maintaining relationships with our clients in Houston, Texas and Colorado Springs, Colorado. I helped to generate new business relationships expanding into the medical, oil and gas and government arenas.... read more
