Work history

Pratt & Whitney, CT June 2006 to August 2006
Strctures Engineer

How would you describe your time at Pratt & Whitney, CT?

It is a great company to work at. I did a summer internship and it was a very good experience. Some of the tasks I did were:

* Demonstrated fundamental skills in the use of Excel Spreadsheets including data input, formula/macro usage and table/chart generation.
* Compiled and organized complex
analytical design/analysis data in a concise pictorially focused style using PowerPoint. Goals were conciseness, consistency & accuracy. Presented final report to management.
* Gained fundamental understanding of Finite Element (FE) analysis and how it is used, was able to interface with ANSYS FE code by post processing and interpreting results.
* Demonstrated a high-level working knowledge of solid modeling techniques and practices using Unigraphics (UG) software; including opening parts and components and measuring geometry and exporting solid models to by analyze with ANSYS FE.
* Developed the ability to interpret graphical data analysis by distinguishing between good and bad with applied judgment to data smoothing, e.g., (bolted flange analysis required bolt loads taken from a global Finite Element model.)
* Acquired specific knowledge about the requirements, types of analysis and tools used by structural analysts during the design process and demonstrated possible bolt interference between two parts in the nozzle design.
