What path did you take to your current career?

I knew that I wanted to work in software since the 7th grade, when I was first introduced to computer programming. Looking back, that class was poorly taught, with obsolete equipment and languages, but it opened my eyes to the joy of software development. I blundered through several languages, discovering for myself the perils of unstructured programming and the neatness of structure, until late high school, when I was allowed to take classes at the local junior college. I took the first two classes in their Introduction to Computer Science series and did very well, as the concepts came very easily to me.

I applied to and was accepted to Cal Poly, which is recognized for their Computer Science program, where I took classes from Clint Staley. I did well, and interviewed for a part time position at a company that he worked with. There, I began to be exposed to professional software development. The part time job at Vizolutions opened doors for me, and the next summer I interned at Microsoft. Since then, I have held several part time development jobs while finishing my degree.
