Constructed Fibre Channel SAN using five LSI ProFibre RAID and storage arrays, redundant Qlogic Fibre-Channel 16 port switches and dual-port HBAs on five Solaris 10 hosts serving NFS and SMB (Samba) and utilizing Veritas Foundation Suite (VM, VFS and Cluster Server), using Microsoft Active directory for authentication which saved thousands of dollars over a proprietary implantation and eliminated the need for two environments.
Built Virtualization solutions using VMware ESX 3.5 saving over $100K dollars.
Supported over 125 internal employees and over 20 domestic and international sales employees as well as a design center in India.
Designed and integrated a disk-to-disk-to-tape storage system utilizing UNIX (Solaris 10) ZFS on a Sunfire V240, SAN attached storage, Veritas NetBackup 6.5, NetApp FAS3020 filer as the master and Quantum LTO-3 tape library, saving 100s of hours in restore time and many 1000s of dollars over a vendor provided solution while at the same time providing redundancy and a level of Disaster Recovery.
Incorporated SCS VOIP system allowing enhanced unified messaging capabilities, increased user satisfaction, and saving over $7500/yr in circuit costs.
Integrated Virtualized development and test environment utilizing VMware Infrastructure 3 ESX 3.5 Update 2 on a HP C3000 blade server saving 60% on server footprint along with hardware, cooling and electrical costs as well as decreasing management and server build time.
Designed a centralized LINUX logging server by configuring all UNIX and LINUX servers syslog.conf files to forward all SYSLOG data to the central server saving more than $50K over a commercial application. Utilized SPLUNK to format logs and do daily searches saving on average 2 hr/day monitoring and improving monitoring capabilities over 50%.
Member of the Microsoft Exchange 2007 server team which migrated over 500 mailboxes from Exchange 2000, to Exchange 2003 and eventually Exchange 2007.
Led Disaster Recovery/Business continuity team in developing, testing and executing DR (Disaster Recovery) plan. By continually testing and tweaking the plan we were able to improve recovery time from over a week (projected) to a little over two days and plans to utilize VMware ESX to virtualize critical server applications and mirror storage.
Built virtual machines utilizing VMware ESX 3.5 Update 2, VMware Server, Xen, and Microsoft Virtual server for applications such as CVS, Flex LM and others saving thousands of dollars in new hardware and licensing costs.
Constructed a load balanced build environment utilizing SUN Gridware on SPARC hardware that increased server utilization over 50%.
Configured Astaro Security Gateway appliance for firewall, anti-spam filtering and IPSEC VPN which saved $3600/yr. recovering the cost of the hardware in less than one year.
Coordinated corporate move from Richardson to Plano. Made sure all necessary permits were in place, facilitated infrastructure (computer, network, TELCO, and facilities) build-out.
Negotiated with vendors and service providers in succeeding to make the most efficient use of budget dollars. Was able to save thousands of dollars annually by aggressively managing TELCO circuits and service contracts.
Negotiated printer outsourcing contract that saved the company over $8K/yr in maintenance and consumables costs.
Managed a staff of two UNIX (Solaris), LINUX, Windows Server and Exchange administrators who supported network and application infrastructure on servers and desktops efficiently and at the same time attaining near 100% customer support.
