TiVo January 2005 to January 2008

How would you describe your time at TiVo?

*Built tools to enable the software production team to move to a bigger build farm through use of an encapsulated environment.

* Ported a linux Redhat 7.3 from old standalone servers to multi-processor, multi-core blades running on Redhat Enterprise 5.
* Tuned systems using RAID to enable
faster performance.

* Created a LUN locking tool that prevented source directories from being mounted on multiple machines which would have resulted in data corruption.
* Engineered Web reports that reported on failures of units thus enabling quicker analysis and fixing of defects.

Ran the GPL Analysis Processes for the standalone TiVo units.

* Built tools that reviewed all code changes to ensure that we complied with GPL license
requirements. Monitored the results. Reviewed all new modules to ensure their license status. Also checked for GPL Version 3.
* Worked with engineers when issues needed to be resolved.

How would you describe your time at Quick Fit?

* Optimized operations thru extracting metrics from
SQL databases. Improved profits by optimizing and
automating marketing process.
* Reduced costs and time for monthly billing process
by creating programs that took billing information
in XML and sent it to merchant bank for processing.

Hewlett Packard January 1995 to January 2002

How would you describe your time at Hewlett Packard?

* Saved millions across the company in
engineer/reviewer time across over 1,000s of people
in the area of quality and release
management by analyzing the needs of all parties,
determining the correct level of information
required and automating the processing and reporting
of this
data.
* Reducing the introduction of new defects,
integration downtime, delayed releases and the
associated increased costs and reduced revenue by
creating and running the "End Game" Release
Management process. This process and its tools
ensured that only those critical defects that needed
to be fixed were fixed.
* Enabled release managers and upper management to
determine whether a release was under control and
identify areas that needed to
be addressed by creating and maintaining the quality
reporting criteria/tools for all releases.
Influenced executive management by making
presentations that identified weak spots in the
releases.

How would you describe your time at Hewlett Packard?

* Enhanced engineer productivity by converting all
UNIX developers to a set of consistent, Y2K
compliant tools and processes for defect and new
code development and release management tracking.
* Facilitated the gathering of raw quality by
developing a sophisticated server system for
data
mining multiple SQL databases and then returning the
combined data.
* Increased quality management in organizations around
the world by creating client tools that were used to
customize standard reports to meet their specific
needs.
* Increased the effectiveness at all levels from the
engineer up to the sector manager by architecting
and building the main defect, new code and release
management tracking system for producing the
reports, metrics and graphs of HP-UX.

Hewlett Packard January 1995 to January 2000

How would you describe your time at Hewlett Packard?

Greatly reduced expenses and time to market for the
HP-UX, by leading the sector wide replacement of
unconnected defect tracking systems. This required
architecting and implementing a new large scale web
based, world wide system; and managing the rollout of
it and the associated new processes
it required.

Accelerated the acceptance of new systems by
implementing the interconnect tools that allowed
existing users with older tools to access data in the
new system.

Improved integration cycle time by creating and
running major release quality control tools and
processes.

How would you describe your time at Hewlett Packard?

Improved the time need to resolve defects by creating
tools that tracked the quality of HP-UX commands and
libraries.
* Improved the speed of quality management with India
and the US by developing tools that data mined
multiple defect tracking systems and combined them
into a single set of
reports.

Optimized and managed the translation of UNIX error
message catalogs into foreign languages, working with
people across the world.
* Reduced costs while improving quality and the speed
of translation (from weeks to hours) of the core of
UNIX into over a dozen languages by improving the
productivity of the translators and system
integrators.
