Directed the creation of article and media content in Encarta. Had ultimate responsibility for the currency, quality, and focus of Encarta content; managed $250,000 commissioning budget; developed innovative approaches to process that substantially improved staff productivity.....Managed editors responsible for content creation and maintenance. Directed recruitment and retention of ten full-time direct reports and numerous contractors; mentored improvement of skills; successfully led group achievement of work objectives year over year; fostered consequential career development among direct reports; mentored full-time employees from other Microsoft groups....Coordinated numerous special projects in the Microsoft Education Products Group. Conceived and developed the engaging style of articles in Encarta Kids, an encyclopedia focused on 2nd to 6th graders; conceived and served as editorial lead for Encarta Experts, an online question-and-answer site (received Microsoft Gold Star Award for this work); led editorial efforts on Encarta Answers, an online initiative that added value to MSN Search by providing direct results/answers for reference queries; helped conceptualize and directed Encarta Learning Modules, a project to motivate middle- and high-school teachers to use Microsoft tools and Encarta Reference Library in their classrooms.... read more
