What are the most rewarding aspects of your job?

The most rewarding aspect of my job is to strive to be challenged. I feel if you are not challenged on a daily basis you are not learning anything. To continue to challenge yourself means to always be pushing your learning to higher and higher levels.

Field Engineer

How would you describe your time at at&t wireless?

Member of a team of network engineers responsible for design, implementation, troubleshooting and surveying to various professional standards of AT&T Wireless and The Hilton Corporation.

Primary responsibilities included but not limited to upgrading the existing network infrastructure with
Cisco access points and switches, Nomadix Firewalls, consulting with users to determine needs and troubleshoot issues on the network.

Additional responsibilities included installation, implementation and optimization of wired and wireless internet access throughout the hotel using Cisco equipment.

Verify wireless coverage throughout the hotel using Air Magnet to map out wireless coverage in every guest access able area in the hotel.

Project management tasks included: lead groups of engineers for job completion within strict guidelines, communicate as a liaison between hotel staff and other high level technicians and completion of information documentation for hand off to the costumer.

Primary responsibilities included but not limited to designing, implementation, troubleshooting and surveying a municipal Wi-Fi mesh network in Anaheim, CA and Philadelphia, PA.

Technologies handled include but not limited to Cisco switches, Motorola Canopy Point-to-Point(PTP) and
Point-to-Multipoint(PTMP) radios, Alvarion Communications PTP and PTMP connections, Tropos Networks Wi-Fi Mesh radios and much more.

Additional responsibilities included implementation, optimization and testing of Wi-Fi and Radio Frequency(RF) activities with multiple vendors and troubleshooting to ensure optimal system performance.

Special projects included managing migrations as needed, being the preferred person to handle complex RF interference issues.

Level 2 support to state agencies all across the state of Washington.

Primary responsibilities included but not limited to design, implementation, upgrading and troubleshooting between agencies and vendors networks such as Noanet, Qwest, Verizon and AT&T.

Additional responsibilities
included installation of Cisco Works for Cisco Switches and Routers, implementing circuits from Telco room to data center (T1, Frame Relay, Fiber Optic and Ethernet).

Special projects included being involved in the Telecommunications Service Division Assistant Directors Advisory Committee to discuss ways that the State of Washington Department of Information Services can keep ahead of the ever changing technology and what we can change now to be better prepared for the future. Converting legacy equipment and migrating the circuits over to MPLS technology.

Primary responsibilities included but not limited to consulting on the design, implementation, support and troubleshooting of a start up wireless internet service provider. Provided a "last mile" high speed internet solution to areas that did not have any wired or wireless internet access.

Secondary responsibilities included but not limited to configuration of routers, switches, Point-to-Point (PTP) and Point-to-Multipoint (PTMP) radios, business and residential installations, face to face consultation with present and future clients.

Special projects included: installation of a 1 mile 1GB wireless link using 60Ghz radio for the Seattle University, installation of a mile and a half 100Mb wireless link using a non line of site radio link for Money Tree Corp. and installation of a 1 square mile Wi-Fi municipal mesh network for the city of Federal Way, WA.

Additional technical accomplishments included: installation and configuration of high speed, mountain top, and long distance wireless backhaul radio links all over Western Washington State.

Supported a team of LAN/WAN technicians, administrators and engineers responsible for the upgrading of the Qwest Communications and AT&T 1ESS to 5ESS switch conversions.

Primarily responsible for the installation and turn up of the new 5ESS telephone switches for Qwest Communications and
AT&T. Also to remove the legacy 1ESS switch equipment without an interruption in service.

Additional responsibilities included handling installation, configuration, repair activities for resolution of numerous 5ESS and -48v power plants within Qwest and AT&T central offices(CO).

Other activities handled included: contractor and union compliance during installation and renovation of the Central Offices including OSHA and structural seismic standards.
