WORK EXPERIENCE

National Petroleum Construction Company April 1979 - Todate
Abu Dhabi, UAE

NPCC is a Public Joint Stock Company owned by the General Holding Corporation (GHC) which holds a 70% interest and the Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) which holds the remaining 30%.

NPCC was established in April 1973 to provide a facility for the fabrication of steel structures required by the Onshore and Offshore Oil and Gas Production Industry. The late seventies saw NPCC growing through considerable expansion with the construction of its own pipe coating facilities and the launching of a successful Offshore Services Division providing full marine spreads for Pipe laying, Installation and Hook-up works.

NPCC's dynamic growth, its past achievements and new facilities have transformed this National Company into a major international (EPC) contractor, capable of providing the Offshore and Onshore Oil & Gas industry with complete Engineering, Procurement and Construction.

Achievements on the running MOQ Project:

??? Initiated and managed to resolve to NPCC and MOQ satisfaction several issues the most important of which - so far - are the following two issues which ended up with a big money and time saving for the Project: -
o As per Project Contract the internal of about 60% of the total Piping Systems (all the Stainless Steel / 6 Mo / Duplex piping plus part of the Carbon Steel Piping) has to be chemically cleaned (i.e. pickled and passivated using Acids - chemicals). To carry out pickling / chemical cleaning for about 10,000 piping spools after erection of same on the 3 different platforms was a nightmare due to the following: -
??? There is no money allowed for this scope during tendering stage.
??? Project Schedule cannot accommodate such activity.
??? It is a very risky operation for the safety of everybody working on the platforms if Acids were deployed to clean the piping from inside.

NPCC team represented / led by myself worked with our respected Client MOQ for about 3 months (concentrated efforts and several welding trials) succeeded in producing a Welding Procedure which will if followed will have Stainless Steel welding completed without having a Black or Grey colour heat tint which was the main reasons behind the chemical cleaning requirement.

Above agreed solution saved our Company valuable time, and around 2 Million Dollars in addition to the Safety hassle of chemicals handling.

??? Under my direct leadership and guidance I have managed with my Project Certification Engineer to propose a very cost saving alternative for a ???Stellite Welding??? process (which both Client MOQ and NPCC have no previous experience with) for Piping Manifolds (of 24??? dia and 14??? dia with 10??? nozzle pipe) by checking with various resources / external and internal experts through internet and literatures.

The outcome of this extensive research work was the establishment of ???Tungsten Carbide??? coating which reduced time, cost and presented a very acceptable more valuable technical solution which offers a better resistance to corrosion issue.
