How would you describe your time at FOOTLOCKER?

After several years working for one company and slowly climbing the ranks, I felt it was time to try out something new. I left Sport Chalet and went to Foot Locker as an MIT. I really learned a lot about what actually goes into running a store: analyzing labor, controlling inventory, shrink, returns, and adjusting labor usage to match sales trends. Foot Locker has very tight corporate merchandising standards, and exposed me to a whole side of merchandising I had no experience with: softgoods. I eventually decided to return to Sport Chalet after a brief time, but I consider myself lucky to have spent the time at Foot Locker, having retained many valuable lessons I now used to make my return more successful.... read more

How would you describe your time at Albertson's Grocerey Store?

I took this as a second job right before my daughter was born. It provided us with a little extra cash, and good insurance to take care of our medical needs. Working at this small, but very busy neighbohood store really exposed me to a very wide slice of humanity, and I learned a lot about really building relationships with customers, as many of ours would come in to the store every night, gettin the goods needed for the night and the next day. It also reminded me about humility, and not to underestimate the guy bagging your groceries or ringing up your gas.... read more

How would you describe your time at Sport Chalet?

I started working here soon after moving down to San Diego from Alaska. I was super excited, as I did not think that there would be a ski shop for me to ply my trade in, but this store had it all. Here I am now, still around, a little longer than I thought I would be, and still excited to go into work at my store. I have done it all, from running $10,000 Wintersteiger's & selling weight benches, to adjusting labor budgets and merchandising a wall. I am continuing to grow in my profession, and am learning new things everyday. I am thankful for my second chance here, and am doing my best to make the most out of it.... read more

How would you describe your time at Bandwagon Snow And Skate Shop?

I was the first employee hired, and sold and assembled equipment, waxed snowboards, and opened and closed the shop Monday through Friday. After a year as we expanded to three team members, I took over the day to day management tasks; scheduling the employees, reordering product, making bank deposits, etc. Eventually I started to aassist the owner in making our seasonal snowboard equipment purchases, and succesfully orchestrated 3 separate shop moves as we grew into new and consecutively larger locations. Also acted as the team manager for our skate/snowboard team, organizing road trips , planning competitions, and coordinating all video and photographic footage.... read more
