How would you describe your time at Zillow?
Designed, prototyped and produced new features for this home valuation website. My involvement touches on all stages including researching product space, brainstorming features, wireframing user interactions, usability and focus group testing, designing final production graphics, javascript and CSS.
Product Designer
How would you describe your time at Microsoft (through S&T Onsite)?
Product Designer for Real Time Collaborations group. Initially, I worked in the role of visual designer, implementing a new design for the next wave of products, which include Communicator and Live Meeting. I also created detailed visual specs for web- and mobile-based versions for use by dev teams in China and India. I mentored one of the other talented visual design contractors who had just started as a full-time employee. Later, I took over as product designer for Live Meeting, redesigning interaction for key new functionality in the version due to ship in mid-2007....

Designed and produced all of the branded visuals for Visual Studio 2005. Created the new project designer for Visual Studio. Prototyped interaction design and initial visual design treatments for next generation forms designer (Cider/Avalon/WinFX). Designed new tool window docking model for Visual Studio shell. Designed interface for Visual Basic marketing tool CD....

How would you describe your time at Microsoft?
Managed a team of three full-time employees and two contractors. Responsible for producing the MSDN (Microsoft Developers Network) website, the focal point for developers using Microsoft products. Conducted regular meetings with leads in user education, marketing, and design in designing and implementing our website. Wrote specs for new features and tools necessary to efficiently produce and manage the site. Also responsible for conducting regular meetings with my reports and helping them move towards their longer term goals within the company. Wrote semi-annual reviews for each employee and made salary/bonus/stock option recommendations....

Designer -> Senior Designer -> Product Designer in Visual Developer Tools group. Product focus included Microsoft Visual Basic and Microsoft Access. Designed Help, CBT, Wizards, and Product User Interface.
Graphic Designer

Macintosh-based design, production and illustration. Worked for a number of companies on an array of print projects. Scope of work included design and production work for brochures, business cards, earnings reports, marketing collateral, and t-shirts. Firms/clients included Becker Design Associates, Stanton Bondo Advertising, Elgin Syferd Advertising, Leslie Snodgrass Design Associates, Musicware, Microsoft Corp....
