How would you describe your time at LifeWay Christian Resources?

Currently, my responsibilities include art direction, design, and branding for LifeWay Kids advertising. LifeWay is one of the largest Christian book publishers in the world and our Vacation Bible school curriculum is the top seller of any VBS worldwide. Last year our sales for VBS alone totaled over sixteen million dollars.

My job is to design and manage all the advertising which includes catalogs, ads, flyers, banners, trade show displays, web ads, brochures, etc. From working with the Kids team to concept and present ideas to managing freelance illustrators and designers, I am involved on every level. I have been in charge of producing every aspect of studio photo shoots and location shoots in Alaska, Hawaii and Tennessee. I have also art directed Flash e-cards and DVD menu screens. When it comes to promo videos, I have assisted in choosing talent, editing scripts, choosing wardrobe, and scheduling.

This job has stretched me and made me realize that I am capable of accomplishing anything if I put my mind to it. I really love what I do. I enjoy having my hands on every aspect of a campaign including being very involved in the concepting stage of an idea. One of my favorite parts of what I do is the producing, planning, and organizing that goes into every project, especially when there are multiple needs (photography, video, web) involved. I hope to be able to utilize those skills plus my skills in art direction heavily in my next position.

How would you describe your time at Samax Communications?

My husband and I, being pet lovers, saw the need in Nashville for a pet resource magazine. We decided to act on that need and created a free local resource called Modern Pet Magazine that was available in Kroger, Blockbuster, and various pet businesses around town. We started the magazine from scratch and wrote articles, designed, sold advertising, and distributed the magazine each month.... read more

How would you describe your time at Dalmatian Press?

Dalmatian Press (DP) was my first full-time graphics position. I started out as a full-time freelancer and was quickly moved into a salaried position. I was responsible for the creation and design of the majority of original titles (childrens books and coloring books) that DP produced for stores such as Target, Walmart, Books-A-Million, and LifeWay. During the time that I was at DP, I became very skilled at computer illustration (mainly Photoshop) and manipulating type. From brainstorming to presenting to execution, I was involved in most aspects of producing the final product.... read more
