How would you describe your time at Northwestern University?

I was laid-off from employment in the Geoffrey T. Swanson's Lab due to lack of available grant funding. I enjoyed working for this lab as I got the opportunity to broaden my skills in laboratory techniques from work on nucleic acids to include cell biology and protein work.
Northwestern University, Evanston September 2005 to June 2006
Ph.D. Student, Interdepartmental Biological Sciences Program

How would you describe your time at Northwestern University, Ev...?

Utilized sequencing and real-time PCR to identify an SNP in a gene associated with deviant circadian rhythm phenotype in a strain of mouse that would bring about a protein truncation mutation.

Completed two Ph.D. level graduate courses: Eukaryotic Molecular Biology and Genetics and Genomics
chicago state university July 2005 to August 2005
Project Leader, TILT Program

How would you describe your time at chicago state university?

Provided background instruction & training on PCR, real-time PCR, bioinformatics, & primer design.

Trained students to efficiently conduct PubMed searches & to create effective PowePoint presentations.

Completed two Ph.D. level courses: Genetics and Genomics and Eukaryotic Molecular Biology

Utilized sequencing and real-time PCR to detect an SNP implying a truncation mutation in a gene associated with a deviant circadian rhythm phenotype in a particular mouse strain.

How would you describe your time at chicago state university?

Utilized genetic linkage analysis & candidate gene analysis to identify locus conferring a spontaneous semi-dominant autosomal monogenic mutation causing late-onset ataxia in mouse.

Developed a high-resolution map demarcating the boundaries between congenic DNA segments in
several mouse
haplotypes using a panel of novel microsatellite markers.

Trained graduate & undergraduate students in primer design, DNA extraction, PCR, & gel electrophoresis.
