Who was your most influential mentor and what did they teach you?

My most influential mentor was a manager I worked with at GM named Jayne. She tought me when to speak, when to keep quiet and what battles need to be fought in a professional environment. She also taught me to deal with the executive levels (especially their egos) and how to communicate with them. She said to me once "you may be the smartest kid in the room, but it really doesn't make a difference if you make the decision maker mad. That is a career killer." I was a student that participated on several on and off campus activities. I was required to have a Coop sponsor, which I went to work for every 3 months. After graduation with my Master's in Quality, I returned to be a guest lecturer.
