What's your dream job?
This might sound far removed from my preparation and experiences in social work. I have fantasized for years about operating and/or owning a resort-style holistic "bed and breakfast" facility. Actually, I think my concept is quite close to the universal mission of social work, which is to protect and promote the wellbeing of the individual and groups. In a word, we seek to "empower" those we serve. My program of services would include special retreats/workshops for individuals and couples. The services are designed and rendered to improve the client's physical health and appearance while teaching new habits, skills, hobbies and attitudes to ensure positive lasting results. An operational word for all services, classes and activities is "FUN"! The benefits would carry over to clients' interpersonal relationships as well. I envision an aesthetically pleasing and relaxing environment with minimal outside interferance and distraction of cell phones, traffic, cyber communications, etc. I believe that I can lay out this plan and make it happen eventually. I plan to enroll in courses that will prepare me as a manager/owner in the hospitality industry. The underlying stumbling stone in my dream is MONEY. I am a lady in the working class with little net worth at this time....
