What advice do you have for someone looking for their first job out of college?

I definitely advise prospective applicants to treat every encounter with the company as an interview, that includes the receptionist, the administrative assistant, even the maintenance crew. Network! Use the resources available at your university and let everyone know you are looking. Lastly, be willing to start lower to gain the experience, there is nothing wasted in gainful employment, you can use transferrable skills in many profession....

How would you describe your time at Hallmark Cards, Inc., Kansa...?
I was responsible for managing the product development process for everyday stickers. This was a $17MM retail business that included two brands in three retail channels. I worked with licensed properties owned by such brand names as Disney, Warner Brothers, and Mattel. I was responsible for managing the product line development for children, tweens, and adults stickers in several pricing categories. I managed a cross functional team of writers, artists, manufacturing, merchandising, sales, inventory control, scheduling, and finance.
I was also responsible for developing new products for an adult party accessories line. This was a new product category the division was experimenting with through a partnership with Tapper Candies (a former subsidiary of Hallmark Cards). We successfully developed a line of cocktail party accessories that accompanied the new plate and napkin lines. We also worked with Binney & Smith, the Crayola brands, to develop a line of party accessories. The $1.3MM retail business entailed a lot of overseas conversations with the Asia Buying Office as the inexpensive party items were made in China....
