If you could choose, what city would you most like to live/work in? Why?

Barcelona or San Francisco.

I'm from Barcelona and I consider it the coolest city in Europe, and eventually I'd like to find a perfect job there.

San Francisco is simply the place to be for a developer, and it also looks like an amazing city to live. I'm sure I would love it.

Interambition September 2006 to the present
Senior Developer

How would you describe your time at Interambition?

-Primary responsibilities include developing interactive applications and games in Flash using Actionscript, creation and administration of databases and developing server applications in .NET to gather, organize and make reports from databases.

-Communicate Flash applications with servers,
making a study of every case to determine the best way to transport data. Depending on the nature of the data (high volume, sensitive information, etc.), communication will be done using web services, plain XML or RPC technologies such as AMFPHP or WebORB. The result is a highly optimized data transportation, which leads to a reduced server load and shorter loading times for the client.

-Lead developer of DJDomain.com, an important electronic music download portal in the Netherlands. The site contents are dynamic and it uses advanced caching techniques to minimize the load in the server. The site has received good feedback since the very beginning from users, especially the DJs that use it to feature their work. It also implements different payment methods, including payment by phone. The site is being improved continuously, and because of its modular design, adding new features is fast and can be made even by non???technical people. The front???end is completely made in Flash, and the back???end uses ASP.NET. Data between the database and the client is made using XML. The database is a SQL Server 2000.

-Implemented Flex as the company's standard method for developing RIAs and administration panels, and started a project to port the actual Flash interface of DJDomain to Flex, to improve the maintainability of the site. Independently improved database behavior, optimized existing web applications by using caching techniques to reduce memory, changed application code to use OOP and modern design patterns, and improved responsiveness in both client and web servers.

How would you describe your time at Vicertec?

-In charge of implementing the interface of a large intranet project for Aresa insurance company. My primary responsibilities were developing the front???end of the application, which involved UI design, communication with the J2EE back???end using semantic technologies such as RDF to transport data between the server and the front???end. The whole interface was written using OOP with JavaScript 1.5, XUL, XBL and XPCOM technologies.

-We worked with beta versions of Mozilla software, which required us to optimize our application behavior using new features every time a new Mozilla API version was released, which was very often; working with this significant handicap led us to be very responsive and to adjust ourselves to the deadlines precisely. It also gave me important experience working with control version software (CVS) in both Windows and Linux.
