I performed accounting services and inventory consulting, financial management and temp CFO duties. During this time, I took two long term contracts. The first was working on the WorldCom audit. The second was working on the HealthSouth audit. I fully enjoyed my time as a consultant, it was very rewarding in every sense except financially. I answered an ad for Southeastern Arch. Wdwks and went back to work for a company, I wanted to work for another manufacturing company and I needed some benefits....

How would you describe your time at Sysco Foodservices of Jackson?
I advanced a great deal professionally at Sysco. I worked for a very large corporation and truly loved the environment. We were a $220m operating company, with strict financial controls. I mentored two staff accountants, and three department heads, supervised inventory control dept. Investigating inventory problems and solving larger institutional problems created a successful period for me. Sysco changed Presidents, the new Pres. brought his CFO along, and his CFO, in a reduction in force of the accounting dept, decided to work without a Controller, hence my job was deleted....

I opened this business in April 1996, I booked $1.3 million in sales my first year. This business was a 24 hour a day venture. It was tough and rewarding. I realized after the first year that I did not want to be in this business forever, so that when one of my employees embezzled $65k from me while I was on vacation, it was a good time for me to begin to get out of this business....

I worked as Accounting Manager, set up software for recording time, recording expenses, billing. Presentation of financial data to non financial person. Law firm with 38 lawyers, firm split four times during my tenure, the last time I understood that soon they could not afford an accounting manager. During this time, I worked part-time for Multi-craft, a manufacturing company that produced wiring harnesses for GM. I was employed in several divisions, one being transportation, and became familiar with freight brokering. Upon the firm splitting for the fourth time, I sought out and hired two brokering specialists, and opened my own freight brokering business....
