I took a sideways path to get where I am now. I studied Renaissance drama in graduate school and planned to teach. While in school, I decided that I wanted to try some other things before settling on a career. I started working in a bar and then did some retail and collections work. I started at Amazon.com on a whim and found it offered me the opportunities and challenges I hadn't been able to find elsewhere. I also got to work with intensely bright and passionate people there. Program and product management fit my interests and became a clear way for me to use my skills to add value at the company. After 9 years, I still look forward to coming to work every day....
