My most influencial mentor was my director, Kathryn, when I worked with CCC in Europe. This woman invested in other people's lives constantly and always had time for one more person in her life. How would you describe your time at Nature's Classroom?

Working with Nature's Classroom is an experience like no other. Teaching science, conservation and community ideals to children ages 9-14 for 14 hours a day takes a lot of energy, and a good sense of humor. However, the rewarding feeling one has when a child begins to understand complex ideas such as conserving fossil fuels, or compating homelessness in America it all is worthwhile! Plus, what could be better than taking kids out into the wilderness 5 days a week and getting to experience the beauty and wonder of mother nature? Not only that, but I had the honor of working with some amazing teachers--honest, real people who care about people and about the planet. Work hard, play hard was our motto. How would you describe your time at Miami University, OH?

I studied Anthropology with a concentration in Culture and Archeology as my major and recieved a BS in 2004. These areas of study taught me the importance of cultural context in understanding and interacting with people of various socio-cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. My Minor in Geography (which is specified as Human and Environmental Relationships) allowed me to further explore the intricate and diverse ways in which people affect and are affected by their physical surroundings. These courses of study gave me a strong interest and profound respect for people from all walks of life. My experience at Miami University allowed me to develop in the areas of studiousness, intrapersonal communication, flexibility, and a striving for excellence in all areas of work, communication and personal development.... read more
