What's your ideal role within an organization?
Starting out, I have no desire to supervise other designers, rather, I prefer to be one of the hands-on designers within a team. As time goes by, taking on supervisory duties--but only lightly-- would be acceptable, as long as I could also continue actually be a part of the working design team. I believe each individual on a design team has a particular and valuable outlook that should be encouraged and respected, and in turn, those individuals need to be relatively unattached to their ideas in order for the design process to function well, and to not be snagged by issues pertaining to individual egos....

How would you describe your time at Freelance / Self employed?
designed logos for a heavy rock band and a music recording studio; designed CD package for heavy rock band; created/altered/repaired reproduction historical clothing for the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries (French & Indian War, American Civil War, WWI); also at this time I completed the Digital Design Diploma at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and am currently taking a course in web development at the Community College of Allegheny County....

How would you describe your time at Mansfield News Journal, Gan...?
Part of the time, I designed covers for several special inserts that were sent out with the Sunday edition of this daily newspaper; the rest of my time was spent designing and building black-and-white and color ads to be published in the paper. This included photo manipulation, preparing design roughs, conferring with sales representatives and clients, downloading client PDF files and altering them if necessary, rendering new artwork from existing images and clip art, etc. For 2 years, I designed weekly, full-page, full-color ad for a Dodge-Chrysler car dealership, and developed a strong working relationship with the dealership, as well as the sales representative in charge of their account. I also worked with other advertisers on a regular basis in the same type of one-on-one basis....

How would you describe your time at PDQ Printing?
I designed, built and prepared for press: print documents of all kinds, including business stationery, brochures, newsletters, catalogs, business forms, booklets, pamphlets, flyers, covers, Christmas letters, invitations (party, wedding, etc.), Christmas cards, logos, etc. I also acted as back-up receptionist for the business, including answering phones, etc....

Rendered illustrations for various books using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; scanned and manipulated hand drawings from another artist for consistency, preparing them for publication in a healthcare book; types of books: science texts, mathematics text, Russian language book, healthcare book, etc....

How would you describe your time at US Geological Survey, Wate...?
Using CorelDraw, I labeled large-format geographical maps, designed printed informational materials, hand-labeled geographical maps, designed and created banners for inclusion on departmental website using Photoshop, and assisted Cartographer with various map-art projects.

How would you describe your time at art institute of pittsburgh?
I enrolled in this program as a way to refresh and upgrade my design skills and my knowledge of the latest design software; I feel that this was an excellent choice for me, and I learned exactly what I had hoped to learn. It introduced me me to writing html code, which was my first encounter, and which has left me with a sincere enthusiasm for learning how to create beautiful and dynamic websites....
