Learning how to properly complete the quarterly IFTA (International Fuel Tax) report.

Challenging the existing mindset of it's accounting and finance leadership who had been with the organization many years. During my initial walkthrough of their SAP module and various reporting tools, I found two opportunities totaling in excess of $100M in savings. The problem was showing the opportunities were valid and related to a particular SEC activity the company had in process....

I had one client, a Vietnam veteran who was living in a group home. His wife had him placed there. He had been exposed to agent orange and also suffered from post-tramatic stress disorder. He also had diabetes. He wanted to get a car. His wife would not permit his getting a car as she controlled his Veterans benefits. I had to visit him once a week and try my best to keep him positive.He told me he had several photos he took in Vietnam and he stated he would like to have an exhibit at the local library. Every Monday we at AMI have a staff meeting and we al discuss what we did with our clients that week. Every time Larry's name came up my supervisors really didn't want to hear much about him. I never gave up on him but took him to the library and spoke with the librarian and received approval for an exhibit of his photographs. ne wek later he died. The hardest problem I have to solve is looking at a photo over my desk of Larry and me taken at the group home where he lived....

Deploying a nationwide ERP-Oracle process. The development process took over 4 years to finalize. It combined 6 operating systems into 1. Each business unit was involved in intimately shaping the mechanics of the new system, which meant each business unit had to create and execute change strategies for all personnel. Every aspect of the business was streamlined which meant the "old way" of doing business was no longer exceptable. Even hourly floor associates with no computer training had to be trained and educated on technological improvements, documents, codes as well as the urgency for real time data entry activities....

Dealing with the weather and maken sure everything is done right and by the prints. Make sure the client is happy.

The toughest part of the job was to learn about administration and the variety of tasks they had to perform. It was'nt really my toughest but their toughest. I also became an as needed substitute so I learned a lot from the teachers and students. Everyday I improved my teaching skills. I learned something new everyday! I really enjoyed the variety of this job....

Its hard for me to decide to leave Food Lion. Its the only job I have ever had. I have always been fearful of change. Stress is mounting at FL however. I have never loved my job and it looks like I never will. Unfortunatly I live in a small town and don't see many opportunities. I have all along figured that conditions would improve, but it doesn't look likely....
