Being put at ease and up front

The interviewer had a pleasant dimeanor and made this opening statement; "Don't you just hate interviews?" That set the tone for a relaxed dialogue.

The interviewer asked open ended questions until they found a common thread between us. That put both of us at ease. This resulted in an open exchange of information that benefited both partys.
