It's not something you can control. It's not personal. Being laid off doesn't define your performance as an employee. Also, unemployment is not an equitable option. Get back in the game as soon as you can.

The biggest lessons that I learned from being laid off was that I never realized how much I actually enjoy working because it gives me something to do to occupy my time constructively.

It can defeat you if you let it. For me depression set in and I thought about suicide a lot. It wasn't until my family and I relocated back to Maryland (also with my best friend's love and help) that I finally decided that I was not going to stray off my path again.
