ACTIVE PREVENTIVE MEDICINE PHYSICIAN
Leverage your expertise to improve the health of our Soldiers and their Families. As a preventive medicine Officer on the U.S. Army Health Care Team, you'll plan, coordinate and direct a program to maintain health, improve physical fitness and prevent disease and injury. With the support of our collaborative health care professionals, you can build your career without concerns about overhead costs and malpractice insurance premiums.

- Paid continuing education
- 30 days of paid vacation earned annually
- Non-contributory retirement benefits with 20 years of qualifying service

Requirements include:
- Doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy; foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates
- Current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico
- Eligibility for board certification
- Completion of at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
- Completion of a training program in preventive medicine
- Between 21 and 42 years of age (health care professionals ages 43 to 60 are now eligible for a two-year service contract under the OAPP program)
- U.S. citizenship
RESERVE PREVENTIVE MEDICINE PHYSICIAN
Enhance your medical career while helping to improve the health of our Soldiers. As a preventive medicine Officer on the U.S. Army Reserve Health Care Team, your duties will include creating, implementing and overseeing programs that improve physical fitness, prevent disease and reduce injury. By practicing in your community and serving when needed, you'll feel proud of your service and the impact it can make on our Soldiers and their Families
Benefits include:
- Health Professional Special Pay of $75,000 for eligible specialties, paid in three yearly increments of $25,000
- Healthcare Professionals Loan Repayment (HPLR) of up to $50,000 over three years; may be applied toward qualified medical school loans
- Paid continuing education and training
- Non-contributory retirement benefits at age 60 with 20 years of qualifying service
- Low-cost life and dental insurance
- Travel opportunities, including humanitarian missions
- Commissary and post exchange shopping privileges
- Flexible, portable retirement savings and investment plan similar to a 401(k)
