Requirements include:
- Doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy; foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates
- Current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico
- Eligibility for board certification
- Completion of at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
- Completion of a training program in pulmonary disease
- Between 21 and 42 years of age (may request a waiver)
- U.S. citizenship
RESERVE PULMONARY DISEASE PHYSICIAN
You'll find that the rewards of serving your country as a pulmonary disease specialist and Officer on the U.S. Army Reserve Health Care Team go beyond the financial and educational benefits. As you practice in your community and serve when needed, you'll also feel proud of your efforts to help our Soldiers and their Families. Benefits include:
- Health Professional Special Pay of $75,000 for eligible specialties, paid in three yearly increments of $25,000
- Healthcare Professionals Loan Repayment (HPLR) of up to $50,000 over three years; may be applied toward qualified medical school loans
- Paid continuing education and training
- Non-contributory retirement benefits at age 60 with 20 years of qualifying service
- Low-cost life and dental insurance
- Travel opportunities, including humanitarian missions
