RESERVE PSYCHIATRIC/MENTAL HEALTH NURSE
You can enrich your nursing career while making a difference in the lives of our Soldiers and their Families. You'll be able to work in your community and serve when needed. As a psychiatric/mental health nurse and Officer on the U.S. Army Reserve Health Care Team, you'll work with dedicated professionals who share your commitment to providing the best nursing care. Most importantly, you'll understand the pride of serving your country in our advanced health care system
Benefits include:
- Special Pay of $30,000 ($10,000 per year for three years) for nurses with their BSN
- Up to $50,000 for nursing school loans through the Health Professional Loan Repayment Program
- Paid continuing education
- Travel opportunities, including humanitarian missions
- Low-cost life and dental insurance
- Non-contributory retirement benefits at age 60 with 20 years of qualifying service
- Networking opportunities
- Commissary and post exchange shopping privileges
- Flexible, portable retirement savings and investment plan similar to a 401(k)

Requirements include:
- Associate degree in nursing from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or accepted by the U.S. Secretary of Education
- At least one year of developmental experience in psychiatric nursing
- Between 21 and 42 years of age (health care professionals ages 43 to 60 are now eligible for a two-year service contract under the OAPP program)
- Current, valid and unrestricted nursing license
- Permanent U.S. residency
