As part of a strategic communications plan and expansion into e-advocacy, Religions for Peace is developing the position of Online Communications Manager. The Manager will work with communication, fundraising, and online advocacy colleagues in a team environment, as well as program staff, to advance the mission of Religions for Peace through its online presence and community. The Manager will supervise the Constituent Relationship Coordinator and on a day-to-day basis report to the Communications Manager and, ultimately, be accountable to the Secretary General
Together the Constituent Relations Coordinator and Online Communications Manager will: provide a compelling story of the organization's work online, build a member/friend constituent base; increase overall Web site traffic; enable targeted marketing and communications; increase the overall level and frequency of electronic donations; and minimize basic inquiries to the organization by providing online information regarding the Religions for Peace programs and mission
Specific Responsibilities:
* Manage all online projects, including e-advocacy, education, and fundraising, by developing and tracking timelines, supporting other projects, and defining the resources required
* Using Convio CMS, create and maintain a Web site that allows constituents to learn about Religions for Peace's mission and accomplishments, register for email communications and personalized content, make donations, and get information about the organization's events
* Coordinate Web site design layout and content relevancy, consistency, and timeliness.
* Cooperate in the electronic production of regular e-newsletters and other bulletins
* Maintain an online communications task calendar for: campaigns, fundraising appeals, special events, and electronic versions of newsletters, toolkits, and other resources
* Gather information from all departments and modify as necessary to ensure high level of Web site usability and effectiveness
* Provide senior management with monthly updates on key metrics including Web site traffic, growth and profile of the email file, and advocacy alerts, fundraising and other online activity.
* Identify opportunities for new online projects that drive organizational objectives
* Maintain the decision process within the organization for prioritizing online projects based on their impact on key metrics of online efforts
* Serve as primary liaison between International Secretariat, field project offices and affiliated bodies for sharing of constituent relationship data and the articulation of an online presence
* Work closely with project directors and management team members in developing relevant data inputs from and outputs to projects and programs
* Carry out other duties as occasionally assigned by the Secretary General or Communications Manager
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Communications, Design or related field.
* Five+ years' experience in Web site oversight and/or database management, including integrated experience with content management tools (especially the technological wherewithal to learn and manage a Convio system).
* Experience in or knowledge of marketing, communications, public relations, and/or a related field. An eye for good graphic design, attention to detail and creativity essential
* Experience with online giving and an understanding of how online content, communications, and appeals drive fundraising results
* Ability to drive decisions within the organization regarding online content and communications
* Familiarity with Web development tools, particularly CMS, SEO, and Convio experiences appreciated. Basic HTML and Web design skills a plus
* Strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal skills
* Fluency in English is required. Fluency in Spanish, French, Japanese, or Arabic is preferred.
* Must be a self-starter focused on outcomes and talented in web content management.
* Experience using CSS, Joomla or Drupal, Content Management, PHP, HTML, Javascript, Dreamweaver or other web-authoring tools.
* Past experience in an NGO setting and inter-cultural, international travel/living experiences a plus.
