As a general dentist and Officer on the U.S. Army Health Care Team, you will begin your career with an established patient base and no overhead costs. Your focus will be on the care of Soldiers and their Families. As a member of our comprehensive dental care team, you'll have opportunities to use the latest technology to provide treatment to those in need.
Benefits include:
- A $75,000 Health Professions Bonus
- Health Professions Loan Repayment of up to $120,000 over three years; may be applied toward qualified dental school loans
- Variable Specialty Pay of $3,000 to $12,000 annually, based on your length of service
- Board Certified Pay of $2,500 to $6,000 annually for board-certified dentists
- Dental Additional Special Pay of $4,000 to $15,000, based on creditable service
- Dental Officer Multiyear Retention Bonus of $13,000 to $50,000 annually, based on specialty and length of contract
- Paid continuing education, including clinical specialization and residencies
- 30 days of paid vacation earned annually
- Non-contributory retirement benefits with 20 years of qualifying service
- No-cost or low-cost medical and dental care for you and your Family
- Commissary and post exchange shopping privileges
- Flexible, portable retirement savings and investment plan similar to a 401(k)
- Privileges that come with being an Officer in the U.S. Army
- Training to become a leader in your field
Requirements include:
- Doctorate from an ADA-accredited dental school in the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or Canada
- Between 21 and 42 years of age (health care professionals ages 43 to 60 are now eligible for a two-year service contract under the OAPP program)
- License to practice dentistry
- U.S. citizenship
