The strength to heal our nations' defenders
Begin your medical career with unique experience as part of one of the world's most advanced health care organizations. If you are currently enrolled in, or have received a letter of acceptance to, an accredited doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy program, you can receive a full scholarship through the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) for up to four years. During academic breaks, you'll gain hands-on experience in our advanced health care organization. After graduation, you'll be eligible for our highly sought residency training programs
As a student, you'll also receive:
- Monthly stipend of more than $1,900 for 10? months
- Officer's pay during academic breaks
- Reimbursement for books, laboratory equipment and academic fees
Upon graduation, benefits will include:
- Paid continuing education
- 30 days of paid vacation earned annually
- Non-contributory retirement benefits with 20 years of qualifying service
- No-cost or low-cost medical and dental care for you and your family
- Commissary and post exchange shopping privileges
- Flexible, portable retirement savings and investment plan similar to a 401(k)
- Commission as a Medical Service Corps captain
- Training to become a leader in your field
Requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Enrollment in or acceptance to an accredited doctor of medicine or osteopathy program in the United States or Puerto Rico
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to maintain full-time student status

ACTIVE NEUROLOGIST
Your knowledge of the central and peripheral nervous system can help our Soldiers and their Families in ways you've never imagined. By becoming a neurologist and an Officer on the U.S. Army Health Care Team, you'll have access to the latest and most advanced medical technology. As a member of our collaborative health care organization, you'll have the opportunity to focus on your patients, not overhead costs and malpractice insurance premiums

- Current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico
- Eligibility for board certification
- Completion of at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
- Completion of a training program in neurology
- Between 21 and 42 years of age (health care professionals ages 43 to 60 are now eligible for a two-year service contract under the OAPP program)
- U.S. citizenship
RESERVE NEUROLOGIST
As a neurologist and Officer on the U.S. Army Reserve Health Care Team, you'll have the opportunity to enrich your medical career in our advanced health care system. - Health Professional Special Pay of $75,000 for eligible specialties, paid in three yearly increments of $25,000
